Scholarship Guidelines

Graduating senior with a disability that is ADA accepted / defined disablity.

Any high school from the Eastern Shore of MD / VA:

  • Somerset County
  • Wicomico County
  • Worcester County
  • Accomack County
  • Northampton County
  • Nominated by Principal, Guidance Counselor or Teacher.

    GPA 2.0 or better.

    Goal - major identified.

    School - two ( 2 ) or four ( 4 ) year institution.

    Process:

    1. Write an essay, two ( 2 ) pages, double spaced and typewritten
    2. Transcripts
    3. Nomination form with at least two ( 2 ) letters of nomination
    4. Review by DADI Executive Board
    5. Interview with DADI Scholarship Committee
    6. Notified of status ( Accept or Decline )

    Monies awarded:

       $1,000. 00  each semester for a maximum of four ( 4 ) years.

    Money is sent directly to the school.

    Scholarship recipient must maintain a 2.0 GPA or better.

    A transcript is required at the end of each semester to ensure continuation of funding.

          DADI will distribute one ( 1 ) a year or if the budget allows, or other candidates qualify, several a year.  Options for awarding funds to be disbursed to each qualified candidate may include smaller reimbursements, purchase of books or supplies or payment of lab fees as comparable.

    Counseling is available for students to provide:

  • Educational support
  • Career direction
  • At risk youth counseling
  •     Mentoring is provided for the scholarship recipient.  A volunteer from the DADI Board indicates their commitment and remains the mentor until graduation and successful job placement.  Follow up occurs during the first year of employment.
